Vijay is an undergraduate who will receive his BS in Physics from the University of California, Irvine in 2027. His research centers on experimental condensed‑matter physics, especially low‑dimensional quantum materials. In the JDSY Lab he pioneered a micro‑pressing technique that injects elemental bismuth and tin between van der Waals crystals, producing ultra‑flat single‑crystal nanowires and thin films. Building on that background, Vijay’s current work has shifted toward superconductivity. As a visiting student in the Bøttcher Lab he is characterizing nanofabricated NbN microwave resonators and assembling layered heterostructure stacks atop the resonators to tune their total kinetic inductance and quantum capacitance.
